The Atyrau refinery is the first oil processing plant in Kazakhstan. Construction of the plant started in 1943. A thermoelectric power shop (TEPS) was commissioned at the end of 1944. A combination unit AT-TK, a Houdry catalytic cracker and a gas fractionation plant were put into operation in 1945. An electrical desalting plant «Petrico»and a sulfuric acid alkylation unit were commissioned in 1947. |

The history of the JSC NSCC «KazStroyService» is far longer than those five years within which it has been existing as a separate company. Before having obtained the status of an independent legal entity, «KazStroyService» represented a repair-construction subdivision of the JSC «KazTransOil», a Kazakhstan operator of oil-and-gas and water pipelines. In its turn, the roots of «KazTransOil» itself could be traced back to 1969, when the «YuzhNefteProvod» organization had been established. |

The Company «KazTransGas» was established in accordance with the Decree issued by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 173 dated February 5th, 2000. The JSC «KazTransGas» is the owner of more than 10 thousand km of trunk pipelines, 26 compressor plants, at which 308 gas pumping units and 3 underground gas storages have been installed. |

The JSC»Exploration&Production «KazMunayGas» is a subsidiary of the JSC NC KMG — the National Oil-and-Gas Company of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Company was established in March 2004, by merging of the OJSC «Uzenmunaygas» (UMG) and OJSC «Embamunaygas» (EMG). This Company occupies the third place in the Republic of Kazakhstan by the annual volume of produced hydrocarbons (including crude oil) (the data for the year 2005). By the estimate of independent experts, the Company's assets include demonstrated and probable resources at the rate of about 205.9 million tons (1 515.2 million barrels). The Headquarters of the Company is sited in Astana (Kazakhstan). The Head Offices of UMG and EMG production subdivisions are located in Zhanaozen and Atyrau in the Western Kazakhstan, respectively. As of December 31st, 2005, the number of employed in the Group was 22 663 people.

The key purpose of «Samruk-Kazyna» is to manage shares (interests) of national development institutions, national companies, and other legal entities it owns to maximize their long-term value and competitiveness in the world markets. |
